Clear the area of loose debris and move mobile equipment to a non treatable area if possible. After spraying, avoid disturbing the treated surface with vehicle traffic or heavy machinery. A few inches of normal rainfall won’t affect results, in fact it is sometimes necessary to activate bare ground sprays, but heavy grading or rock movement can reduce control level and duration of the recent application.
We target all vegetation growing through gravel, including broadleaf weeds, grasses, sedges, woody seedlings, and vines (including kudzu). Common examples include pigweed, crabgrass, Bermuda, Johnson grass, and volunteer trees like sweetgum, oak, or pine. Our total vegetation control treatments are non-selective, meaning they control all species.
Most bareground herbicides are labeled to last 4 to 12 months depending on site conditions, weed pressure, and seasonal timing. 1-2 annual treatments are common for industrial yards, substations, and laydown areas that have been maintained over several years. Sites just starting out with an initial treatment will need it more frequently in the first 1-2 years.
Yes. We routinely spray gravel along fence lines, electric switching equipment, substations, laydown yards, and equipment pads. Our crews are licensed and trained to work near communications equipment, energized lines, or restricted-access sites using targeted low-drift methods and label-approved herbicides.
We use herbicides approved for industrial and utility use, following setback rules and label directions. Sites with sensitive drainage features, require proactive measures, and we’ll adjust spray buffers or switch products to reduce off-target risk. We utilize aquatic herbicides labeled for waterways and retention ponds, selectively treating up to one third of target vegetation to prevent fish kill if aquatic life is present.
At VegClear, we take pride in providing comprehensive Total Vegetation Control (TVC) services to local and regional industrial asset managers, effectively eliminating weeds and vegetation growth across large commercial gravel lots and precision landscaped industrial parks alike. Our goal is to support commercial property managers and utility facilities pros with exceptional spraying service, allowing them to focus on important tasks while we handle all aspects of gravel weed control treatment, from planning and product selection to routine spray applications and ongoing monitoring.
