Challenges Faced:

Varying Vegetation: The site had extensive weed and vine growth, particularly along the western perimeter fence. Kudzu and honeysuckle infestations covered approximately 50% of the fence length, presenting significant control challenges.

Critical Fence Line: The chain-link and electric fence surrounding the property required regular maintenance to prevent vegetation encroachment that could compromise security and create operational hazards.

Implementation: Herbicide Tank Mix & Application

Initial Treatment (Late Summer): VegClear performed a blanket and spot herbicide treatment along the fence line, focusing on active vine growth, including kudzu, mimosa trees, and honeysuckle vines.

Herbicide Mix: A combination of systemic and foliar herbicides was applied to address both surface and root growth. The mix included glufosinate, imazapyr, clopyralid, and triclopyr, among others, to ensure thorough control.

Soil-Applied Pre-emergent and Growth Inhibitors: The ground between the chain-link and electric portions of the boundary, and along the fence line, was treated with pre-emergent and soil sterilizer herbicides to prevent regrowth and reduce new germination.

Follow-Up Treatments: Scheduled follow-up applications included touch-ups and dormant stem applications for fall and winter to further suppress any new growth.

Execution of Spray Services

The initial treatment began in late summer, an opportune time for foliar absorption of systemic herbicide, targeting the overgrown areas along the fence line. VegClear’s technicians applied herbicides during daylight hours outside of peak shift changes to ensure safety and avoid disruption to the facility’s operations.

The first visible decline in vegetation occurred within 48 hours, with full decline occurring over the next 10-12 days, as evidenced by discoloration and wilting of targeted plants.
